Detroit News Reviews Inspector Gadget

Go, go ‘Gadget’ comic book!

By Eric Henrickson / Detroit News “Geek Watch”

Viper is releasing a couple licensed kid titles this week, “Inspector Gadget” and “Johnny Test.”

I’ve never watched “Johnny Test,” so I can’t tell you how true the book is to the cartoon. But it’s cute and innocuous enough. I’m guessing fans of the show will like it.

I was a big “Inspector Gadget” fan as a kid, though, so it was a treat to read that.

“…pick this up and share it with your kids (or keep it for yourself).”

Hey, is the Inspector Gadget comic book out in stores yet? I understand from the Detroit News review that it’s getting released this week (confusingly not in June, as your web site says), but I still haven’t seen it or been able to order it online anywhere. In fact, the book’s listing ( even says that the expected release is 28-12-2011(!). Hope you can clarify things a bit, I’d really like to get the book:)

Ah, okay… so it will be in stores on Wednesday, August 31, in other words? Also, here’s hoping your online book store ships overseas;)

By the way, just curious: What are the future plans with the Inspector Gadget comic? Will it become a regular book? Monthly? Bi-monthly? I’m trying to find any sort of information on an upcoming issue 2 of the book, but haven’t seen anything so far…

Hi again! I just finished writing a short review of your “Inspector Gadget” comic book, where I talk about what I liked and didn’t like about the book. You can find it at this address:

To be honest, while I love seeing Inspector Gadget back in new adventures – and really love that you’re going back to the classic format of the show – I didn’t find the book perfect. I think both the writing and the art could have been better (especially the art), and I’m hoping they will get better in future issues. Hope you’ll take the time to read the review… the only reason I’m doing this is that I care so much about Inspector Gadget;)
