Ichabod Jones Monster Hunter Number 1 Written by Dan Morrill on May 19th, 2012 | No Comments Written by Russell Nohelty Edited by Gwendolyn Borgen Art and Letters by Renzo Podesta Cover by Renzo Podesta Published by Viper Comics I love Viper Comics; there I said it, so when Russell dropped me a note yesterday to take a look at the Ichabod Jones Monster Hunter series I simply could not say no to this one. Viper is at the top of their game with this comic book, and in all I found this one pretty cool. Our hero Ichabod is in an insane asylum, because he is a killer. Or is he an instrument of god doomed to fight the monsters from hell that inhabit the earth and make our lives short and miserable. Alone in a corner in a padded cell Ichabod is responding to the voices in his head, or are they in his head? Are they divine guidance or the internal stimuli of a person who is a psychopath killer? Did the guard leave the door to the padded cell unlocked, or did God open the door so that Ichabod could see the monster in the hall way chowing down on a mental home attendant? Is the monster real, or is it all in Ichabod’s brain? That is why this is a very groovy comic book. READ FULL REVIEW HERE!

Ichabod Jones Issues: Monster Hunter 1 and 2 is Good Psychotic Fun By Book Arts, dale wilson | Published May 12, 2012 Ichabod Jones: Monster Hunter issue 01 Ichabod is a boy in the prison of his mind and apparently an insane asylum as well. We are led to believe that his murdering someone (maybe even a few people) got him jailed. But he’s got bigger monsters to kill and that’s why we’re lead to believe he’s a hero, or at least a good guy. Alright. Sounds good to me. I’m a fan of the twisted and sometimes often depraved antagonist. While I am slowly coming around to at least understanding the stand-up hero types like Superman, it’s the fully warped ones that make stories more interesting to me – this at least partially comes from my not believing that anyone is so perfect as Superman but that’s a tangent for another article. Right now, I’m talking about the to-some degree more realistic, the more complex Ichabod Jones: Monster Hunter. Published by Viper Comics, it’s the art of IJ: MH that immediately caught my attention. It’s beautiful. Renzo Podesta is serious talent. The first issue is full of incredible action that makes single panels fill with motion and entire pages feel like Icabod’s madness.
The Adventures of Ichabod Jones: Monster Hunter By Wesley Messer – April 26, 2012Posted in: Comic Books, comics, Featured A comic by the name of Ichabod Jones: Monster Hunter caught my attention recently from Viper Comics. I recently had the opportunity to read the first three issues of this new series. Ichabod Jones: Monster Hunter seems like a name that would speak for itself as to what it’s about right? Yes and no, considering that our main character is a psychopath who spends his time wearing a straitjacket in a mental institution. Of course the voice in his head tells him he’s going to save the world! A psychopathic young man, who is told he’s going to save the world, welcome to one of the truly different protagonists you will run into. The interesting thing about him is though I know he’s not right in his head, this just makes him that much more fascinating. I’ll say this, Ichabod Jones: Monster Hunter from the start takes chances that aren’t often taken in comics. FULL REVIEW CLICK HERE!

Interview: Writer Ethan Bull Discusses WORLD WAR HACK Published on Comicosity.com by Aaron Long on April 26, 2012 | 0 Comment If there is to be another World War the battleground will be different than the past two. Technology has ingrained itself heavily in the world we live in and there is a definite possibility the next wars will be fought heavily in cyberspace. Writer Ethan Bull teams up with artist Tsubasa Yozora to bring the world of hacking to the world of comics with World War Hack from Viper Comics. Ethan took time to answer some questions about how the book came to be and what readers can expect. Aaron Long: Straight from the creator’s mouth: how would you describe World War Hack? Ethan Bull: The short answer is that World War Hack is about a teenage computer hacker who gets wrapped up in a hacking competition designed by the government to secretly solve a national security crisis. The longer answered is that it is a story which deals with the theme of right versus wrong from a computer hacking perspective. The idea that we, as a country, need to step up our efforts to find and recruit the best computer/network security talent we can find no matter where they come from to help protect us. And lastly, it is a story that hopefully convinces us all to acknowledge that as our world becomes more connected, it also becomes more vulnerable to the whims of black hat hackers whether they are foreign nations, rogue groups or individuals. That said, the short answer sounds more fun so go with that one. FULL INTERVIEW CLICK HERE!

I recently got a chance to take a look at World War Hack, the upcoming graphic novel from Viper Comics. Let me tell you that you all are in for a treat. Written by Ethan Bull and illustrated by Tsubasa Yozora, World War Hack is a roller-coaster ride from the beginning to the end. It is incredibly smartly written, tightly plotted, and very well paced. In fact, the only thing that I wish was different about this book was the length. At 72 pages, it felt like I had to put it down too soon. The book begins with an unmanned aircraft drone being taken over by unknown hackers and having it turn on friendly forces. As the various agency heads discuss what they should do about the situation, they hit on hosting a “hacking competition,” gathering known hackers from around the in an attempt to either outright catch the person(s) responsible or at the very least figure out what the hackers were able to do and stop their access before something worse happens. The idea made me laugh out loud at first, but upon finding that this is actually a tactic used by governments to recruit the best and brightest programming minds as well as to turn possible “black hat” hackers into “white hats,” I was quickly drawn back into the book.
ICHABOD JONES: MONSTER HUNTER #1-3 Writer: Russell Nohelty Artist: Renzo Podesta Publisher: Viper Comics Reviewer: Optimous Douche The overwhelming success of GLEE indicates that America loves mash-ups, which makes me feel obligated to find an award winning combination of past entertainment to describe ICHABOD JONES. Put simply, Viper Comics’ latest brain child presented an alternate reality where the creepy cuteness of CORALINE collides with the reality-bending mind-fuck that was INCEPTION, and garnishes in a little SILENCE OF THE LAMBS for good measure. Ichabod Jones is insane…maybe. This waffling has less to do with my lack of commitment and stems more from writer Nohelty’s ability to blur the line between what lives in Ichabod’s head versus what the rest of the world actually sees. Ichabod Jones is insane by some standards, but that insanity is going to help him save the world…maybe. FULL REVIEW CLICK HERE

Hello nerds and nerdettes! Welcome to another exciting review with yours truly. Today I’ll be reviewing a brand new title from Viper Comics called Ichabod Jones Monster Hunter. In its debut issue we are introduced to Ichabod Jones. Ichabod is anything but what you would think the stereotypical hero would be. It is the time of the apocalypse and monsters have been unleashed upon the world. It seems that Ichabod must embark on a mission to save the planet from this threat but first he has to escape from the mental institution that he has been committed to. “…if you’re looking for something different with exceptional artwork and an original creative story then don’t pass this one up.” Full Review Click HERE!
