Well we're back at this again starting a new week of a new month.  We  have tons of great stuff in store for this year and just can't wait to get them into the hands of readers.  To kick off this weeks blog I'd provide a small glimpse at few things we have in the works that we are just so excited to be part of .  One is going to be an all ages book titled, Stu Bear in the 25th Century and the other is Nightmares in Oz which we've provided inside look at this one, but I have some alternate cover art from Dead At 17's Josh Howard.  Oh if you haven't registered for our newsletter please do so by visiting our front page.  The newsletter will keep you posted the latest from Viper.

Is the Future of Comics Here?

January 28, 2010 |  by jessiegarza  |  Blog  |  No Comments

The future of not just comic book publishing, but Publishing has arrived.  As technology advancements continue to move us forward the industry begins to evolve and transition us to a paperless society.  Thus the iPad has arrived.  The iPad will allow consumers to put together a digital library of books with a simple touch of the screen.  This is a great opportunity for consumers and publishers to save money.  Consumers get a discount for buying a digital version and publishers save on production by not having to print the book.  With the iPad publishers can now explore publishing in digital format versus going straight to print.  Yes...Yes ...I know you can do that now with iPhone, but this (iPad) really allows for the books to be seen as they were intended on a slightly larger screen rather then your phone.  The bigger screen provides a much better experience for the reader, more of the feeling intended from holding an actual comic or graphic novel.  The future of publishing is here.  Most of all provides another avenue for publishers and creators to place concept out for consumer consumption. Only thing...not sure about name.. iPad...hmmm.

Webcomics Webcomics Webcomics!

Alright so here is something else we have coming up for the site.  Jim has been chipping away at the programming so we can add Webcomics to the site.  I will post couple of images from couple of titles in development here at the end of the blog as a sneak look at them.  We have several of them but couple are out with contracts pending back and Jim has 1 strip to approve which I am crossing fingers and toes he OK's....PLEASE JIM PLEASE OK.. :) So one of the biggest draw backs to Webcomics is how to you develop a way to monetize them so creators can see a return for their work? Many have attempted to sell AD space,  sell commission art, sell strips from the postings, and or join communities where your paid for how many people view your strip.  I feel this is one area that still has not provided a clear cut path for all those hard working creators.  I so wish I had the solution for this but as we move forward we also will explore avenues to provide web creators their way overdue respect in a monetized format.  For us best solution is

Why All Ages – Blinko Books

January 19, 2010 |  by jessiegarza  |  Blog  |  No Comments

Ok so today I started to wonder what am I inspired by and what am I super jazzed about. . Viper's all ages imprint.  So you ask yourself why all ages? and I'll tell you thats a very good question.  All ages because I have an 8 year old who is my biggest fan, plus not to mention I just can't help but remember many days while in elementary rushing home to catch the cartoons on tv.  Better yet I remember Saturday mornings when I'd get up early just to catch the Saturday Morning cartoons.   All ages content have something special in that its something both a parent can enjoy as well as the child.  All ages material taps into that inner innocence while allowing us to remember those days where my biggest worry was whether to play outside or stay inside and watch TV.  For us all ages content is something we want parents to experience with their children in which reading bedtime stories is cool, or just sitting reading a book.  I can't tell you how many times my little one will come to me and say dad how about we go to the Half Price Book Store, and I'm all down for that...we
